Meyken Barreto is a curator, art writer, and adjunct lecturer at City College of New York. She has held curatorial and management roles at institutions including Residency Unlimited, Artist Pension Trust, and Y Gallery, and has taught Art History in Havana and lectured internationally. In 2009, she received Cuba’s National Curatorship Award.
Her research and curatorial work focus on contemporary art, identity, gender, memory, coloniality, and power structures. She has curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions in New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, Washington DC, and beyond, while also contributing to art publications such as El Oficio and Artnexus.
